The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is launching its Clinical Transfusion Program in April. The program consists of 12 live virtual sessions hosted by leading experts in the field of transfusion medicine throughout April to October and has been endorsed by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. This program is designed for all trainee registrars who utilise blood and blood products and is particularly beneficial for Anaesthetic trainees. The program provides attendees with a solid foundation for safe and appropriate transfusion practices. Topics covered include pre transfusion testing, blood components including appropriate transfusion strategies, adverse transfusion reactions, patient blood management (pre and intraoperative), perioperative coagulation studies, critical bleeding, viscoelastic haemostatic testing, Obstetric and paediatric transfusion.
